Natural Skin Care – Answering the Important Questions

We all know it is important to care for our skin, and natural skin care is more important now than ever. There are some really easy ways to keep your skin young and healthy; all you have to do is learn the answers to these questions!

Why is it important to clean my skin regularly?

  • Your skin's pores become clogged with pollutants from the environment, excess oil, and bacteria. Regular cleaning will keep these toxins away from your skin.
  • The best cleansers are non-irritating, safe for sensitive skin and won't cause acne by clogging pores.
  • Regular soap is made from fast, oils and salts. Individuals who suffer from dry skin will find that the lack of their natural skin oil causes soap residue to clog their pores, which then causes acne.
  • Your skin is the first line of defense against infection and harsh elements. Your face, hands and arms are exposed to the most contaminants, and should receive the most attention.

How do I clean my skin?

  • Wash your hands first to prevent the transfer of germs to your face.
  • Because hairstyling products attract dirt, start with your hairline first, then sweep cleanser over face and lips and down the neck.
  • Gently massage cleanser in a circular motion and leave on for 30 seconds. Gently rinse the dirt away with cool water. Makeup build-up may best be removed with a cotton ball.
  • Rinse with cool water; too hot or too cold can cause flushing and increase broken capillaries, especially if you scrub too hard

How to Clean Normal Skin

Experiment with various natural skin care liquids, soap gels, and cleansing sheets. Ultimately you should select a mild cleanser or gel cleanser and rinse with cool water. Some people get the misnomer that by selecting the strongest cleaner on the market, they will get the cleanest skin. These cleansers may remove all dirt and oil from your skin, but that is not exactly the best thing for your skin.

How to Clean Dry Skin

Use a natural skin care cream that contains non-detergent ingredients. When rinsing, it should rinse off easily. You can also use hard-milled cleansing bars and gentle face cleansers for drier skin, or try a liquid natural skin care cleanser with a cleansing sheet that won't strip away natural (and necessary) oils on the skin. Stay away from hot water – it makes your skin lose moisture quickly, removes natural defensive oils, and can cause too much blood flow. Cleansers like emulsifying ointments can be used by those individuals who have eczema and dry skin – these conditions require serious skin care products.

How to Clean Oily Skin

Use a gentle, foaming natural skin care facial wash to remove dirt and oil without stripping away the fats that are needed to maintain moisture. Oily skin types should avoid wax-based cleansers, which can clog oil-prone pores.

How to Clean Combination Skin

Use a gentle facial wash in the mornings to keep oily areas clean (do not clean excessively). In the evening use a cream cleanser on the dry areas. You can also use a facial scrub to help an oil-prone nose, chin and forehead area while a cream or gel mask will moisturize dry areas of the face. You should notice the effects of cleansers on your face after 3-5 days of use. If you notice any problems, switch to a new natural skin care product.

How to Clean Sensitive Skin

Cleanse with gentle, milky, water-soluble natural skin care cleaners using luke-warm water. Avoid gels or soaps that contain drying alcohol, preservatives or strong-acting acids. Avoid exfoliating scrubs or astringents, which can cause inflammation. You should also avoid excessive water temperatures.
