Application Techniques for Liquid Eyeliner
Applying liquid eyeliner is a bit more difficult than it may appear. Not only can it be difficult the first time you use it, but it can be difficult any time you try a new brand. You may want to explore the different types of eyeliners available; here is an overview of what is available.
Test, on the back of your hand, the amount of pressure you should apply while using liquid eyeliner. Unless you are a real artist, it is best to steady your elbow on a flat surface, otherwise, liquid eyeliner is very tricky to get right. Work from the inside of the eye to the outside corner and keep the line light and even. If you stop at the corner of the eyes, the effect will be round and wide-eyed; if you continue the line and sweep it up and out, you will get a more exotic look. Finally for a softened look smudge the edges with a cotton bud.
Note that eyeliner should be applied before eye shadow so that it is blended in for a nice uniform look. Any mistakes can be corrected with cotton tipped swab, or if the mistake is beyond a cotton swab use a skin care agent which is gentle to the face and eye area.
Application Technique for the Pencil Eyeliner
Pencils can be used in the same manner to define or extend the shape of the eyes as liquid eyeliner, but they give a softer, more natural line. Keep your pencil liner sharpened and ready for use, because a blunted or broken point can spoil the whole effect.
What Can Eyeliner Do?
Eyeliners, including Kohl, are the most extensively used form of eye makeup. It can change the eyes shape and size, make eyelashes appear thicker, accentuate the eye, and look lusher. A skillful application of liquid eyeliner or any liner can help create the illusion of more evenly spaced and set eyes and thus gives a better balance to the entire face. Liners outline the eye and deeper toning colors are particularly attractive when matching the eye shadow.
Cake type liners are somewhat being replaced by liquid eyeliner and pencils. Liquid eyeliner is sold in bottles either with a separate sable brush or in an automatic-unti with the brush built into the cap. Liquid eyeliner maybe either water-based (when it is susceptible to wetting with water) or alcohol based (when it is water proof.)
Liquid eyeliner has following attributes are:
- Creates a smooth even line.
- Formulated to resist smudging or peeling.
Ideal to create a natural, fine, or thick dramatic line, eyeliner is a personal thing on how you want to appear. |
How Safe Are Eye-Cosmetics?
Most instances of infection and injury to the eyes are a result of careless application and use of cosmetics rather than due to any of the ingredients. For example, putting on your eye make-up while you’re driving is not the smartest practice; not only do you put your eyes on the line, but someone else’s life. To apply make-up period while driving is just plain stupid, our tip to you would be: “Get permanent lipstick, eyeliner, blush, or make-up in general.” If that isn’t an option, at least have the courtesy to do it at a stop light.
So other than safety issues, it is also very important to follow simple rules of cleanliness and hygiene when using eye-cosmetics: wash your hands before touching your eyes; never borrow or lend any item of eye makeup; never use saliva or dirty water to moisten eye-makeup.
Allergic reactions to eye makeup are however, not uncommon: the solution to this problem is to stop using the eye cosmetic which has caused the reaction. Remember, that reactions around the eyes can be simply caused by nail varnish or the dye you may have used. |
