Blush Make-up – The Defining Element
Everyone has their own opinion of what make-up to use or not to use. However, blush make-up is the one element you just can’t leave off of your list. Its also the one make-up that can completely destroy your appearance if used incorrectly.
Why Wear Blush Make-up?
Blush make-up is what highlights your face. Blush can make your cheeks glow with warmth, or give you a cool refreshing look… you don’t even need to wear base to achieve such radiance. That is what makes blush make-up so wonderful; you can wear a little or a lot as long as it is appropriate for the occasion, and the correct color for your skin tone.
How Do I Pick Out The Right Blush Make-up Brush?
The first think you’ll need to do is find the apple of your cheekbones. Suck in your cheeks or simply smile, when you do this it helps to find the apple of your cheekbones. Once you’ve found the apple of your cheekbones you will know better how to pick out your blush make-up brush.
- To do this you need to find a blush brush which perfectly fits the size of your cheek when you smile. If your brush is larger than the apples of your cheekbones then you will have blush in places you don’t want defined. Unless you are using shimmery powders you do not need to have a huge blush brush. To small and you won’t get the coverage you’re looking for.
- You can pick out a blush brush now that you know what you’re looking for.
How Do I Apply Blush Make-up?
- Pick up your blush make-up or bronzing powder by gently tapping the brush with the end of the bristles. Do not sweep across the blush make-up, because by doing this you are picking up 10 fold the amount of color you would need, and as a result, waste a lot of the blush product. Some brands of make-up can be very expensive, so tap touch your brush to your blush 2-3 times.
- Shake off any excess blush from your brush. When you look at the bottom of your bristles, you will notice the color of your blush is barely noticeable. No need to worry there is enough for the job.
- One of the biggest mistakes made while applying blush make-up is by “sweeping” or “Stroking” the color onto the cheeks. As a result you will end up with the blush streaked on, and then you’ll have to go back and ‘correct’ and ‘blend’ the color in.

- As an alternative, smile, and tap the brush gently going along your cheekbones. Using the tapping method helps to avoid excess color, a streaking, and color in the wrong places. Tapping the blush to your cheek blend the color for you, and if you need to add more color you may, just repeat the tapping method.
- If the color is too bright, swipe your blush brush across a Kleenex or paper towel to clean off any excess. You’ll then need some loose powder to sweep over and blend your blush into your cheek. That will help tone down the brightness and allow you to have a softer appearance. If that doesn’t help take a dampened sponge and clean off as much color as you can, this should allow you to fix the problem. At least it’s not like permanent lipstick or liquid eye-liner now those are a tough fix!
