Makeup Tips, Myths, and Picks
Perhaps you are just learning to use makeup, or perhaps you have been using it for a long time… truth is, it doesn’t matter, because the makeup tips you are about to learn work! They are used by professional makeup artist from the runways of Milan to the movie sets of Hollywood.
To Start… A Few Myths
Myth 1: It’s OK to touch up your makeup once it is dry. Don’t! This is the last thing you should do – especially if you are going to be touching it with your hands. You will never be able to blend and smooth the base once other makeup is already applied… so if you can leave it be, do so. Some of the best makeup tips involve doing absolutely nothing at all.
Myth 2: I can spray water or toner on my makeup to freshen it. This just does not work. Your foundation, eyeliner, powder, and mascara will most likely run. You will need to use a thousand makeup tips to fix a minor blemish nobody else has probably even noticed.
Myth 3: I can fix my lips and everything else I don’t like by redrawing it. Never “redraw” your lips. As a matter of fact, don’t use makeup to redraw anything on your face! It should be accentuating… makeup tips do not involve painting a portrait over your face.
Get the Basics Down: Pick the Right Makeup
All good makeup tips start with the right makeup. Let’s start with the foundation. Oil-free, matte finish liquid makeup will have a very smooth finish and no shine. Coverage will be medium at best, but for the vast majority of women this will work better than anything else.
If you live in a humid area, or have very oily skin (or if you use oily skin treatment) then you may want to try ultra-matte foundations, although you need to be careful applying because they go on very thick.
Next, pick good colors (there are a lot of makeup tips which involve color). Avoid white and light color lipstick, as this will wash your face and draw attention away from your eyes. Also, keep the lipstick and blush in the same color family. When it comes to eye shadow, do not use navy blue… that era has come and gone. Some anti aging makeup tips are as simple as using colors from the right decade!
