Using Facial Scrubs to Unlock Beauty
Facial scrubs will unlock the natural beauty and light within your skin, leaving you feeling beautiful and radiant. There are many types of facial scrubs, and they range virtually every category. Many are enjoyed in the comforts of a beauty salon, while others are enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. There is a time and place for each to be used.
Types of Facial Scrubs
There are two different types of facial scrubs; one uses a product that is mildly abrasive to gently polish your skin. Products containing oatmeal, almond meal, honey, finely powered clay and finely powered citrus peel fall into this category.
The second is an exfoliate such as Retin-A or an alpha hydroxy acid. These products remove the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. While a sea salt or sodium borate is a great scrub for the body, these products are too abrasive for use on your face. Microdermabrasion usually involves spraying the face with salt particles but this is not a procedure that should ever be used at home – it should be conducted by a licensed dermatologist.
Home Care Facial Scrubs
There are many facial scrubs which you can make in your own home. This is an example of a simple home facial which will polish your skin:
- ½ cub of uncooked oatmeal (do not use instant)
- 1 Tablespoon of hone
- 2 Teaspoons of warm water
Gently rub the mixture above on your face in circular motions for five minutes. If you have excessively oily skin, you can add a Tablespoon of lemon. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, and immediately put moisturizer and sunscreen on your skin. It is always recommended you remove makeup prior to a scrub, especially lipstick and bronzing powder.
